vegan: a person who consumes no food (such as meat, eggs, or dairy products) that comes from animals. There are many different versions of vegans. “Raw vegan, junk food vegan, etc.” – it doesn’t matter what kind you decide to become, the point is you are contributing to saving innocent lives and making the world a better place.
So why vegan?
There are several reasons to want to become a vegan. There is the obvious, for the animals, but there are also reasons such as for the environment, your health, or for people. I will make separate posts on all of these so I can go into depth on them.
“Veganism is not about giving anything up or losing anything; it is about gaining the peace within yourself that comes from embracing nonviolence and refusing to participate in the exploitation of the vulnerable”
So where do you start?
I realize that a new lifestyle change can be scary. The thought of not consuming meat anymore probably sounds crazy and the thought of “not getting enough protein” is probably a question you will be wondering about. Let me just say, you have to let go of the protein thing. “Not enough protein” isn’t even a real issue. If you are consuming a good vegan diet, you will be getting more than enough GOOD protein that your body needs and can use. From my personal experience, converting to this lifestyle is easiest to do if you take it day by day. Don’t try to cut out all animals products at once. Your body will not react to that very well. Instead, take it slow. Maybe one week cut out all meat except for one day or vice versa with dairy. Look up vegan recipes on the web or pinterest (great place to learn) and try new things. See what works for you, what you like & don’t like, etc. Another thing that I’ve found works is to make your favorite dishes but “veganize” them. I promise you will still be able to eat your favorite meals. There is literally a vegan version of EVERYTHING now.
I would also suggest getting involved on social media. That is the best way to get involved with other vegans, find new recipes, get advice, etc. I’m part of several facebook groups that are really helpful.
This should be enough for anyone to get started in the easiest way. Feel free to email if you have any questions. I’d love to help out anyway I can! X x
